Common Questions

What bulb does it take?

One standard E26 bulb, up to 40W incandescent or the LED equivalent. A warm white LED bulb suits reading and evening use.

Does it plug into a regular outlet?

Yes. It has a 59 inch cord with a US plug, and a push button switch turns it on and off.

Can I dim it?

Yes. It works with a dimmer, so you can go from bright task light to a low glow. The dimmer is not included.

Will it fit on my desk or nightstand?

It is 13.8 in wide and 21.6 in tall, so it fits a desk corner, nightstand or shelf without taking over the surface.

Is it good for reading or work?

Yes. The metal arm and shade adjust, so you can angle the light onto a book, keyboard or sketchbook, then tilt it away for softer light.

What if it's not right?

You have 30 days. If it's not right, send it back and we'll refund you. If anything arrives damaged, we replace it.

How bright will this be, and how do I compare it to others?

Brightness is measured in lumens, not watts, so a low wattage LED can easily outshine an older bulb that draws far more power. The figures for this fixture are listed in the Details & Specifications dropdown above.

As a guide, accent and bedside lights are designed to shape a mood rather than flood a room, while ceiling, wall and post lights run brighter because they cover a wider area.

Do I need an electrician to install this?

It depends on how the fixture is powered. Solar, rechargeable and plug in fixtures need no wiring, and most people fit them themselves with basic tools.

Hardwired fixtures connect to your mains supply, and we recommend a qualified electrician for those. The Power Supply row in Details & Specifications tells you which one you are looking at.

What will the light actually look like?

That comes down to color temperature, listed per product in Details & Specifications. Warm white around 3000K is a soft, slightly yellow light that suits homes and gardens.

Higher numbers look cooler and more blue white. That reads as brighter, but it is far less inviting in a living space.
