Description

Uplighting a tree is the single cheapest thing you can do to make a garden look designed after dark. Point one of these at a trunk and the bark texture comes alive; the canopy above catches just enough to read as a shape rather than a black mass. It is the difference between a dark yard and a lit one.

The head adjusts up and down on its knuckle, so you aim it once at install and it stays. That matters more than it sounds — a fixed-angle spotlight either hits the target or it does not, and trees grow. The body is die-cast aluminium with a glass lens, which is what lets it sit outside year-round without corroding.

Colour rendering is Ra over 80, so foliage reads as actual green rather than the washed-out grey you get from cheap outdoor LEDs. It covers roughly 54 to 86 square feet at 3W warm white, and it is IP65 rated. This one is hardwired at 110-240V, not solar — so it needs a supply run to it, and in exchange it gives you the same output every night regardless of weather.

Highlights

  • Adjustable head — aim it at the trunk once and it holds position
  • Ra >80 colour rendering — foliage reads green, not grey

  • IP65 rated — dust tight, protected against water jets
  • Covers 54-86 sq ft — sized for a single tree or wall section
  • Hardwired, not solar — needs a supply, gives consistent output

Common Questions
Is this solar or does it need wiring?

This one is hardwired at 110-240V - there is no solar panel and no battery. The trade-off is worth understanding: it needs a cable run, but it gives you the same brightness every night of the year regardless of weather or season. If you want no wiring, choose one of our solar spotlights instead.

Is the price for one light?

Yes, the price shown is for ONE spotlight. The photograph shows two at the base of a tree because that is how uplighting is usually done - add two to your cart if you want a pair, and the multi-buy discount applies automatically at checkout.

How far will it throw?

It covers roughly 54 to 86 square feet at 3W, which suits a single tree trunk, a shrub or a section of wall. For a large mature tree most people use two or three placed around the base rather than one trying to do everything.

What does Ra over 80 mean in practice?

Colour rendering. Above 80 means greens still look green and brick still looks like brick. Cheap outdoor LEDs sit well below that and make planting look grey and flat at night, which is the usual reason garden lighting disappoints.

Can I change the angle after installing?

Yes. The head tilts up and down on its knuckle joint and holds position. Worth knowing because trees grow - you will want to re-aim it after a couple of seasons.

Will it survive winter outdoors?

It is IP65 in die-cast aluminium with a glass lens, which is the right build for permanent outdoor use - dust tight and rated against water jets from any direction. It is not rated for submersion, so do not site it where water pools.

How bright will this be, and how do I compare it to others?

Brightness is measured in lumens, not watts, so a low wattage LED can easily outshine an older bulb that draws far more power. The figures for this fixture are listed in the Details & Specifications dropdown above.

As a guide, accent and bedside lights are designed to shape a mood rather than flood a room, while ceiling, wall and post lights run brighter because they cover a wider area.

Do I need an electrician to install this?

It depends on how the fixture is powered. Solar, rechargeable and plug in fixtures need no wiring, and most people fit them themselves with basic tools.

Hardwired fixtures connect to your mains supply, and we recommend a qualified electrician for those. The Power Supply row in Details & Specifications tells you which one you are looking at.

Will it survive rain, snow and heat?

Outdoor fixtures carry an IP rating, shown as Waterproof in Details & Specifications. IP65 means fully sealed against dust and protected against water jets from any direction, which covers ordinary rain and snow.

Materials matter just as much. Aluminum and stainless bodies with tempered glass or polycarbonate shades hold their finish outdoors far better than all plastic fittings.

What will the light actually look like?

That comes down to color temperature, listed per product in Details & Specifications. Warm white around 3000K is a soft, slightly yellow light that suits homes and gardens.

Higher numbers look cooler and more blue white. That reads as brighter, but it is far less inviting in a living space.

How many do I need for my space?

Even spacing matters more than sheer quantity. A pair either side of a door or gate is the usual starting point.

For a fence line, path or driveway, most runs look right at four to eight fixtures spaced evenly apart. Gaps that are too wide leave dark patches between pools of light, which reads worse than fewer fixtures spaced properly.
