Rattan does something a glass or metal shade cannot: it breaks the light up. The Luwino Home Rattan Pendant Light is woven by hand over an iron frame, so the glow comes through the weave in a pattern rather than a flat wash, and the shadow it throws on the ceiling is part of the fixture.
