Small on purpose. At 2.76 inches across and just over 9 inches tall this is a genuinely mini pendant — narrower than a coffee mug — which is what lets you hang two or three in a row over an island without the ceiling closing in on the room. Oversized pendants do the opposite.

The shade is smoked grey glass with a faint hand-blown texture, and the body is mirror-finished metal built up through a five-layer electroplating process. The smoke in the glass is doing real work: it knocks the glare off the LED so you can sit under these at a counter without the light source catching your eye.

Inside is a 7W side-emitting LED module with three-colour switching — 3000K over dinner, 4500K for reading a recipe, 6000K when you need the counter properly lit. It runs from your wall switch. How many should I hang over a kitchen island?

Because these are small at 2.76 inches wide, two suits an island up to about 6 feet and three suits 7 to 8 feet. Space them 24 to 30 inches apart and keep the outer two at least a foot in from the ends.

How high above the counter should it hang?

Aim for the bottom of the shade 30 to 36 inches above the countertop. That clears sightlines across the island and keeps the light source above eye level for anyone sitting at it.

Does the 3-colour switching dim it?

No. It cycles between 3000K, 4500K and 6000K from the wall switch. Brightness does not change and it is not rated for a dimmer circuit.
