Common Questions

Which size should I pick?

A good rule is a light about half to two-thirds the width of your frame. The 18 in suits frames around 27 to 36 in wide, the 22 in around 33 to 44 in, the 30 in around 45 to 60 in, and the 39 in for the largest pieces. For art under 24 in wide, see our smaller Cordless Picture Light.

How long does a charge last?

About 8 hours at high brightness and up to 24 hours at medium. A full charge takes about 6 hours.

Do I need wiring or an electrician?

No. It runs on its built-in rechargeable battery and screws to the wall above the frame, so there is nothing to wire and no outlet needed.

Can I change the color and brightness?

Yes. Switch between warm, neutral and cool light and dim it from the remote or the touch switch on the light.

Does it get hot or damage the art?

No. It uses LED, which runs cool, so it is safe above paintings, prints and photographs.

Can I use it for photos and mirrors?

Yes. It works above paintings, framed photos, prints and mirrors.

Is the price for one light?

Yes, the price is for one. Ordering 2 or more applies a discount automatically at checkout.

How bright will this be, and how do I compare it to others?

Brightness is measured in lumens, not watts, so a low wattage LED can easily outshine an older bulb that draws far more power. The figures for this fixture are listed in the Details & Specifications dropdown above.

As a guide, accent and bedside lights are designed to shape a mood rather than flood a room, while ceiling, wall and post lights run brighter because they cover a wider area.

Do I need an electrician to install this?

It depends on how the fixture is powered. Solar, rechargeable and plug in fixtures need no wiring, and most people fit them themselves with basic tools.

Hardwired fixtures connect to your mains supply, and we recommend a qualified electrician for those. The Power Supply row in Details & Specifications tells you which one you are looking at.

What will the light actually look like?

That comes down to color temperature, listed per product in Details & Specifications. Warm white around 3000K is a soft, slightly yellow light that suits homes and gardens.

Higher numbers look cooler and more blue white. That reads as brighter, but it is far less inviting in a living space.
