Common Questions

Do I need an electrician or an outlet nearby?

No. It's battery operated, with a built-in rechargeable battery, so it works on any wall, including walls with no outlet. Nothing gets wired, and no cord runs down the wall.

Can I hang it myself? Is there a stick-on option?

Yes, most people hang it themselves in a few minutes. Mark two spots above your frame, drive in the two included screws, and slide the light onto its mount. We use screws instead of adhesive so the light stays level and holds its angle. Everything you need comes in the box: the light bar, two mounting screws, the remote, and a USB-C charging cable.

How long does the battery last?

12 to 20 hours per charge, depending on brightness. Most people run it in the evening, so one charge covers several nights. When it needs power, lift the bar off its magnetic mount and plug in the USB-C cable. You never take the frame down.

Which size do I need?

Measure the width of what you're lighting. Up to 24 inches, choose the 12 inch. Wider than 24 inches, choose the 16 inch. The 16 inch is our most ordered size for paintings over a sofa, mantel, or console.

What can I use it on besides paintings?

Anything you hang or display on a wall: framed photos, prints, portraits, mirrors, shelves, or a gallery wall. If it deserves attention in the evening, it works.

Will it make my art look blue, glare, or get hot?

Set it to warm white, the setting we recommend for paintings, portraits, and anything with rich color. Every setting dims from the remote, so the light never overpowers the room at night. For art behind glass, tilt the head down along the frame so the reflection points away from where you sit. The LED runs cool to the touch, so no heat reaches the canvas, print, or photo.

I want to light more than one piece.

The price is for one light. Add a second and the multi-buy discount applies automatically at checkout. Customers often order a pair for matching paintings, a gallery wall, or a gift.

What if it doesn't look right on my wall?

Try it at home for 30 days. If it isn't what you pictured, send it back and we'll refund you in full. There are no restocking fees and no questions to answer.

How bright will this be, and how do I compare it to others?

Brightness is measured in lumens, not watts, so a low wattage LED can easily outshine an older bulb that draws far more power. The figures for this fixture are listed in the Details & Specifications dropdown above.

As a guide, accent and bedside lights are designed to shape a mood rather than flood a room, while ceiling, wall and post lights run brighter because they cover a wider area.

Do I need an electrician to install this?

It depends on how the fixture is powered. Solar, rechargeable and plug in fixtures need no wiring, and most people fit them themselves with basic tools.

Hardwired fixtures connect to your mains supply, and we recommend a qualified electrician for those. The Power Supply row in Details & Specifications tells you which one you are looking at.

What will the light actually look like?

That comes down to color temperature, listed per product in Details & Specifications. Warm white around 3000K is a soft, slightly yellow light that suits homes and gardens.

Higher numbers look cooler and more blue white. That reads as brighter, but it is far less inviting in a living space.
