Common Questions

What does up and down light mean?

It is open at the top and the bottom, so it throws two fans of light on the wall rather than one pool. It is a decorative effect as much as a functional one.

Are the two-tone versions two different colors?

Yes, the upper and lower shades are different colors, which is what the nine combinations are. Beige and red, green and pink, and so on.

Is a bulb included?

No. It takes an E27 up to 40W, incandescent or LED equivalent. A warm bulb suits it.

How big is it?

10 inches tall by 4.7 wide and it weighs 2.6 lb, so it has real presence beside a bed or along a hallway.

Does it come with mounting hardware?

Yes, the mounting kit and manual are in the box. It hardwires to a standard wall box.

Is the price for one sconce?

Yes, the price is for one. Ordering 2 or more applies a discount automatically at checkout.

How bright will this be, and how do I compare it to others?

Brightness is measured in lumens, not watts, so a low wattage LED can easily outshine an older bulb that draws far more power. The figures for this fixture are listed in the Details & Specifications dropdown above.

As a guide, accent and bedside lights are designed to shape a mood rather than flood a room, while ceiling, wall and post lights run brighter because they cover a wider area.

Do I need an electrician to install this?

It depends on how the fixture is powered. Solar, rechargeable and plug in fixtures need no wiring, and most people fit them themselves with basic tools.

Hardwired fixtures connect to your mains supply, and we recommend a qualified electrician for those. The Power Supply row in Details & Specifications tells you which one you are looking at.

What will the light actually look like?

That comes down to color temperature, listed per product in Details & Specifications. Warm white around 3000K is a soft, slightly yellow light that suits homes and gardens.

Higher numbers look cooler and more blue white. That reads as brighter, but it is far less inviting in a living space.
