Common Questions

Does it need wiring?

No. It is cordless and charges over USB-C from a 4400mAh battery, so nothing runs down the wall behind your artwork.

How long does a charge last?

12 to 20 hours depending on brightness. The head detaches magnetically to charge, so you do not have to unmount the whole bar.

Which size should I pick?

The 12 in fits frames up to about 24 in wide. The 16 in is for frames 24 in and wider, including large canvases and mirrors.

Can I aim the beam?

Yes, the head rotates 120 degrees, so you can angle it down the face of the artwork and avoid glare off glass or varnish.

What does the remote do?

Brightness and color temperature: warm, cool and natural white. Warm is the usual pick for paintings on a painted wall.

Is the price for one light?

Yes, the price is for one. Ordering 2 or more applies a discount automatically at checkout.

What's in the box?

The light bar, mounting screws, remote and USB-C charging cable.

Does it get hot or damage the art?

No. It uses LED, which runs cool to the touch. There is no heat buildup, so it is safe above paintings, prints and photographs.

How bright will this be, and how do I compare it to others?

Brightness is measured in lumens, not watts, so a low wattage LED can easily outshine an older bulb that draws far more power. The figures for this fixture are listed in the Details & Specifications dropdown above.

As a guide, accent and bedside lights are designed to shape a mood rather than flood a room, while ceiling, wall and post lights run brighter because they cover a wider area.

Do I need an electrician to install this?

It depends on how the fixture is powered. Solar, rechargeable and plug in fixtures need no wiring, and most people fit them themselves with basic tools.

Hardwired fixtures connect to your mains supply, and we recommend a qualified electrician for those. The Power Supply row in Details & Specifications tells you which one you are looking at.

What will the light actually look like?

That comes down to color temperature, listed per product in Details & Specifications. Warm white around 3000K is a soft, slightly yellow light that suits homes and gardens.

Higher numbers look cooler and more blue white. That reads as brighter, but it is far less inviting in a living space.
