Common Questions

Is this a different light from your larger picture lights?

It is the same cordless light in the 12 inch size, with the same battery, remote, magnetic charging mount and 3 light colors. It is made for frames up to about 24 inches wide.

Will it fit my frame?

Measure the width of your frame. Up to about 24 inches wide, the 12 inch fits well. For wider art, look at our 16 inch picture lights.

Do I need an electrician or an outlet?

No. It runs on a built-in rechargeable battery, so it works on any wall with no outlet nearby. Nothing gets wired and no cord hangs below the frame.

Is it hard to hang?

No. Most people have it up in about 5 minutes. Hold it above the frame, mark two spots, put in the two small screws included and set the light on its mount. The screws keep it level and hold the angle better than tape.

Do I have to take the frame down to charge it?

No. The light bar lifts straight off its magnetic mount. Charge it over USB-C and set it back. The frame stays exactly where it hangs.

How long does a charge last?

12 to 20 hours, depending on brightness. At about 3 hours a night, one charge covers 4 to 6 evenings.

Can I light more than one picture?

Yes. Each light works on its own with its own remote, so you can light a few frames along a hallway or a gallery wall.

What if I don't like it?

You have 30 days. If it's not right, send it back and we'll refund you. If anything arrives damaged, we replace it.

How bright will this be, and how do I compare it to others?

Brightness is measured in lumens, not watts, so a low wattage LED can easily outshine an older bulb that draws far more power. The figures for this fixture are listed in the Details & Specifications dropdown above.

As a guide, accent and bedside lights are designed to shape a mood rather than flood a room, while ceiling, wall and post lights run brighter because they cover a wider area.

Do I need an electrician to install this?

It depends on how the fixture is powered. Solar, rechargeable and plug in fixtures need no wiring, and most people fit them themselves with basic tools.

Hardwired fixtures connect to your mains supply, and we recommend a qualified electrician for those. The Power Supply row in Details & Specifications tells you which one you are looking at.

What will the light actually look like?

That comes down to color temperature, listed per product in Details & Specifications. Warm white around 3000K is a soft, slightly yellow light that suits homes and gardens.

Higher numbers look cooler and more blue white. That reads as brighter, but it is far less inviting in a living space.
