Description

A pendant over a reading chair or bedside usually needs a ceiling box in the right spot.

Two sizes, 11.8 or 17.7 inches across, in matte white, black or burgundy. Cord length is 70.9 inches. For indoor dry locations.

Common Questions

Do I need an electrician?

No. Hang the cord over the included ceiling hook, plug it into a wall outlet and use the switch on the cord. There is no junction box, so it works in rentals.

Is a bulb included?

No. It takes one E26 bulb up to 60W equivalent. A warm white LED, 6 to 12W, is a good choice.

How long is the cord and how low should it hang?

The cord is 70.9 inches from the shade to the plug, and you set the drop when you loop it over the hook. Over a table, hang the bottom of the shade about 30 to 36 inches above the surface.

How do I put up the hook?

Screw the hook into a ceiling joist, or use an anchor made for your ceiling. Run the cord down to the outlet and tidy it with cord clips or a cord cover.

Which size should I get?

The 11.8 inch shade suits a bedside, a reading chair or a small table. The 17.7 inch shade suits a dining table or a bigger room.

What if it's not right?

You have 30 days. If it's not right, send it back and we'll refund you. If anything arrives damaged, we replace it.

How bright will this be, and how do I compare it to others?

Brightness is measured in lumens, not watts, so a low wattage LED can easily outshine an older bulb that draws far more power. The figures for this fixture are listed in the Details & Specifications dropdown above.

As a guide, accent and bedside lights are designed to shape a mood rather than flood a room, while ceiling, wall and post lights run brighter because they cover a wider area.

Do I need an electrician to install this?

It depends on how the fixture is powered. Solar, rechargeable and plug in fixtures need no wiring, and most people fit them themselves with basic tools.

Hardwired fixtures connect to your mains supply, and we recommend a qualified electrician for those. The Power Supply row in Details & Specifications tells you which one you are looking at.

What will the light actually look like?

That comes down to color temperature, listed per product in Details & Specifications. Warm white around 3000K is a soft, slightly yellow light that suits homes and gardens.

Higher numbers look cooler and more blue white. That reads as brighter, but it is far less inviting in a living space.
