Description

A light above the headboard is useful for reading, but wiring one in means opening the wall.

This headboard reading light is a long black bar with a white diffuser. It mounts with screws or adhesive and runs on a built-in battery that charges by USB, up to 4 hours per charge. Dim it by remote or touch, choose warm, neutral or cool light, and set the timer so it switches off if you fall asleep.

Four lengths, 23.6, 31.5, 39.4 or 47.2 inches, to match the width of your bed. For dry indoor rooms.

Common Questions

Do I need an electrician?

No. It mounts with the included screws or adhesive and runs on a built-in battery. On tile or textured walls, use the screws.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 4 hours on a full charge. Charge it with the included USB cable from a wall adapter, laptop or power bank. You can use it while it charges if the cable reaches.

Will it turn off if I fall asleep?

Yes. Set the timer on the remote and it switches itself off.

Which length should I get?

Measure your headboard and pick a length a little shorter than its width. The 23.6 inch suits one side of the bed or a narrow panel.

Can I change the light color?

Yes. Pick warm 3000K for winding down, neutral 4000K for reading, or cool 6000K, by remote or the touch sensor.

What if it's not right?

You have 30 days. If it's not right, send it back and we'll refund you. If anything arrives damaged, we replace it.

How bright will this be, and how do I compare it to others?

Brightness is measured in lumens, not watts, so a low wattage LED can easily outshine an older bulb that draws far more power. The figures for this fixture are listed in the Details & Specifications dropdown above.

As a guide, accent and bedside lights are designed to shape a mood rather than flood a room, while ceiling, wall and post lights run brighter because they cover a wider area.

Do I need an electrician to install this?

It depends on how the fixture is powered. Solar, rechargeable and plug in fixtures need no wiring, and most people fit them themselves with basic tools.

Hardwired fixtures connect to your mains supply, and we recommend a qualified electrician for those. The Power Supply row in Details & Specifications tells you which one you are looking at.

What will the light actually look like?

That comes down to color temperature, listed per product in Details & Specifications. Warm white around 3000K is a soft, slightly yellow light that suits homes and gardens.

Higher numbers look cooler and more blue white. That reads as brighter, but it is far less inviting in a living space.
